A Romantic Outdoor Wedding at Crockett’s Run in Logan, Ohio
There are definitely classic types of wedding signage that most brides ask for because they are stunning and look amazing in any wedding setting: a mirror seating chart, a simple wedding welcome sign, acrylic table numbers…but as a bespoke wedding calligrapher, I love to create truly unique wedding calligraphy pieces that no one has ever seen the likes of before. Rosa and Sam’s romantic outdoor wedding at Crockett’s Run in Hocking Hills gave me the opportunity to do just that. Rosa had a clear vision for her wedding day that she wanted to evoke through bright colors and her passion for classical art. The vibrant berry florals and elegant draping fabrics created a romantic, museum-inspired atmosphere, and I was delighted to see my calligraphy become part of such a beautiful and thoughtfully designed celebration.

Crockett’s Run offers couples the opportunity to host a truly unique outdoor wedding experience; one that feels worlds away from more traditional Central Ohio venues, yet remains conveniently located less than an hour’s drive from downtown Columbus.
Additionally, the outdoor setting offers a blank slate that allows for true creative freedom in planning your wedding celebration. Sam & Rosa weren’t limited by any pre-existing architectural style or décor. The gorgeous Ohio fall foliage was their canvas!
Their guests enjoyed the experience of an open air wedding ceremony and cocktail hour with the rock wall in the background, while switching to a tented reception for added cover and intimacy. This versatility of ceremony and reception options is great for couples who love having the option of an outdoor wedding, but want guests to be comfortable no matter what Ohio weather brings their way.
Crockett’s Run also has ample accommodations that allow couples to extend the wedding celebrations over the whole weekend - Sam and Rosa were able to host a guests for both the rehearsal dinner in addition to the wedding without loved ones needing to leave.

Fine Art Inspired Wedding Details
Rosa had a clear and inspiring vision for her wedding décor when we sat down to chat about wedding signage options in the spring leading up to the wedding. With a thoughtfully curated Pinterest board (truly a girl after my own heart) she shared her ideas for a romantic, classical celebration influenced by the en plein air style. Her vision centered on incorporating fine art throughout the wedding day, complemented by softly draped fabrics and ornate gold frames to create a museum-inspired atmosphere. It was a distinctive and creative approach to wedding design, and I was excited to help bring it to life through her wedding signage and calligraphy.

One of the primary reasons wedding signage is important is to share information with your guests so that you (or your wedding planner) don’t have to! At a venue like Crockett’s Run, where multiple event spaces are spread across the property, thoughtful and intentional signage helps guests feel confident about where to go and what’s happening next. it’s important to keep your guests informed as to what is happening and where, and Rosa wanted to make sure their wedding guests were up on all of the details. We added details to the wedding welcome sign as a way to inform guests where and when the pre-ceremony refreshments and cocktail hour would be taking place. This small but meaningful touch gave guests a helpful preview of the day’s flow. Acrylic signage also allowed the bride to add her own special touch by placing an impressionist painting behind the lettering—elevating the welcome sign into a truly unique piece of art.

The true statement piece of Rosa & Sam’s wedding signage was their unforgettable gallery wall escort card display, an idea that Rosa had been dreaming of since the very beginning of her planning process. While we had originally discussed listing guest names directly within the frames, the bride ultimately chose the more intimate option of individual escort cards, allowing each guest to take home a small piece of the celebrations. The hand calligraphed escort cards in varying shades of pink ink were beautiful and functional, both guiding guests to their tables and adding a thoughtful detail that elevated the overall table presentation.

Wedding signage plays an important role in creating a cohesive visual story throughout the day. The gold-framed mirrors with matching lettering helped tie in the rest of the surrounding décor, enhancing the overall atmosphere without feeling distracting or out of place. A softly draped satin bar menu matched the many fabric details the bride had thoughtfully incorporated throughout the rest of the wedding décor.

Rosa and Sam thoughtfully planned many activities for their guests to enjoy. When you take the time to plan out wedding activities and experiences, clear signage plays an important role in inviting guests to participate rather than miss out on the fun. The newlyweds had a whole display of activities for guests young and old, and a simple mirror sign informed the guests that they were free to partake. It was a small detail that ensured none of the fun went unnoticed.

Sadly, as their wedding calligrapher I missed out on the incredible pie selection, but Rosa and Sam made sure their guests didn’t. A mirror sign drew attention to the display while also giving insight as to the meaning behind the pies and the traditions they represented.
